Dr. Bradley A. Connor
Bradley A. Connor, M.D. is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and an Attending Physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He is the Founder and Medical Director of the New York Center for Travel and Tropical Medicine, as well as at the Founder and President of the Institute for Integrative Gastroenterology.
With over 35 years of private practice experience, Dr. Connor is a leading expert in gastroenterology, infectious diseases, and tropical medicine. He is widely recognized for his ability to evaluate complex diagnostic cases spanning multiple medical disciplines. Through his integrative gut health and microbiome initiative, he provides personalized and evidence-based treatment plans to restore microbiome imbalances and restore healthy gut function. His research focuses on chronic gastrointestinal disorders in returned travelers, emerging gastrointestinal pathogens, and infectious disease surveillance. Notably, he was part of the team in Kathmandu, Nepal, that first identified the clinical illness associated with Cyclospora infections and made major subsequent contributions to its understanding.
Dr. Connor is the author of over 200 peer-reviewed medical publications and serves on editorial boards or as a reviewer for over 25 medical journals. He authored sections of the CDC's Health Information for International Travel ("Yellow Book") and their website, and is co-editor of the textbook Travel Medicine, now in its fourth edition.
A Former President of the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM), Dr. Connor also consults for the CDC and serves as the New York City Site Director for GeoSentinel, a CDC and ISTM collaboration. In addition, he founded the GeoSentinel Foundation, a not-for-profit organization focusing on global infectious disease surveillance, research, and pandemic planning. He also serves on the board of directors of Physicians for Human Rights.
Throughout his career, Dr. Connor has provided expert guidance during major public health crises, including the New York City Department of Health's response to the 2009 H1N1 influenza outbreak and advising the oil and gas industry during the 2014 Ebola outbreak. Since 1999, he has been a consultant to the White House Medical Unit (WHMU) and serves as an advisor in travel medicine to the U.S. Olympic Swim Team.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Connor established a community SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing laboratory in New York City, led research on COVID-19 treatments, and served as Principal Investigator for a disease severity biomarker study. He also advised major corporations—including Teneo, Major League Soccer (MLS), Equinox, Goldman Sachs, Schulte Roth & Zabel, and the PGA—on pandemic response strategies and business continuity. For the past 20 years he has served as the Medical Director for several notable touring bands including the Rolling Stones.
Dr. Connor earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical College and Rockefeller University. He is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA-F), Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America (FIDSA), and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (FFTM, FRCPS, Glasgow).
